Malaysia’s men’s cricket team wins T10 gold at SEA Games 2025, completing a golden double after earlier T20 victory with a perfect tournament record.
BANGKOK: Malaysia’s national men’s cricket team secured a golden double at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 by winning the men’s T10 title today.
Fresh from a gold medal in the men’s T20 event last Saturday, the squad added the T10 crown after topping the round-robin group standings.
They capped the tournament with a seven-wicket victory over Indonesia in their final match at the TerdThai Cricket Grounds.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Malaysia restricted Indonesia to 61 runs in 10 overs.
The team then comfortably chased down the target, scoring 65 runs in 8.0 overs to seal the gold medal.
Malaysia finished with a perfect record of four wins from four matches, earning eight points.
This victory made amends for the silver medal won at the previous edition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The national team opened its T10 campaign with a four-wicket win over the Philippines.
They followed with convincing victories against Singapore by eight wickets and hosts Thailand by nine wickets.
Team manager Vijayalingam Vythilingam was delighted the squad met its target of two golds from this biennial Games.
“The key for the success is because they were playing consistently as a team,” he told Bernama.
“This was an all-round effort by the team and that’s what pushed them to these two golds.”
