Former armed forces chief Mohd Nizam Jaffar denies four charges, including abuse of position for RM752,481 and CBT involving RM3 million.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar (pic) pleaded not guilty to four charges in the Sessions Court today.

The 59-year-old faces allegations of abusing his position to receive RM752,481.90 and criminal breach of trust involving RM3 million.

“I understand the charges and wish to stand trial,” he said after each charge was read before Judge Rosli Ahmad.

He arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex supported by a walking stick and accompanied by MACC officers.

The first two charges involve abuse of position for gratification under the MACC Act 2009.

He is accused of using his role as Assistant Chief of Staff and chair of the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT) committee to secure contracts for companies in which he had an interest.

These contracts, for Hari Raya gift packages in 2025, totalled over RM2.8 million and allegedly secured him RM552,481.90.

The third charge is for criminal breach of trust under the Penal Code.

Mohd Nizam is accused of using RM3 million of TKAT funds for an unauthorised investment in Precious Amber International Berhad.

The fourth charge alleges he received RM200,000 without consideration from a director of Aspen Red Sdn Bhd.

This offence is alleged to have occurred in March 2025 under Section 165 of the Penal Code.

All charges relate to his former positions within the Malaysian Armed Forces and associated welfare and investment committees.

The prosecution is led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Akram Gharib.

Mohd Nizam’s defence is represented by lawyer Abdul Aziz Hamzah.

The case will proceed to trial following his not guilty plea.
