Arteta hails Arsenal’s dominant Champions League win over Bayern

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his players after their 3-1 victory against Bayern Munich, calling the Germans “the best team in Europe.”

LONDON: Mikel Arteta praised his Arsenal players after they outplayed Bayern Munich 3-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Gunners dominated the second half against the six-time European champions to secure a deserved victory.

Bayern’s 17-year-old midfielder Lennart Karl cancelled out Jurrien Timber’s opener late in the first half.

Noni Madueke restored Arsenal’s lead with his first goal for the club before fellow substitute Gabriel Martinelli capitalised on a Manuel Neuer error.

Arsenal now have five wins from five Champions League matches and lead their group by three points.

“I have to praise our players because I think they had an incredible match against, in my opinion, the best team in Europe,” said Arteta.

“Individually, we were immense to resolve all the challenges that this team brings to the table.”

The Arsenal manager emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum despite the impressive victory.

“Today is another massive victory, but that’s it,” he added. “Now go home, have a nice dinner, and tomorrow morning we’ll start to prepare for Stamford Bridge.”

Arteta highlighted the impact of his substitutes, with both Madueke and Martinelli scoring after coming off the bench.

“I look at the players and they are coming in and they can change the game so that’s what you’re required to do,” he said.

The victory extends Arsenal’s perfect Champions League record this season.
