Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are set for further talks with Manchester United as the club seeks an interim head coach following Ruben Amorim’s sacking.
MICHAEL Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could hold fresh talks with Manchester United as the club seeks an interim head coach.
This follows the sacking of Ruben Amorim on Monday after a reported row with sporting director Jason Wilcox.
The two former United players are believed to have held a first round of informal discussions with Wilcox on Tuesday.
Another former United star, Darren Fletcher, has been named interim head coach for the upcoming match at Burnley.
It is now suggested both Carrick and Solskjaer could feature in a new backroom team at Old Trafford.
If appointed, it would mark a return for Solskjaer, who was sacked by the club in November 2021.
The former United forward initially took charge on an interim basis in December 2018 after Jose Mourinho’s dismissal.
He was appointed full-time the following March before his eventual departure.
Carrick was placed in temporary charge following Solskjaer’s sacking.
United head into the Burnley match sixth in the Premier League with eight wins from 20 matches this season.
