Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie was threatened with a gun in north London, with a 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of firearms possession.
LONDON: Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie was allegedly threatened with a gun in north London.
The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the incident involving the 22-year-old Italy international.
Tottenham confirmed they are providing support to Udogie and his family following the September incident.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence.
The suspect has been bailed while police inquiries continue.
Police were called at 11.14 pm on September 6 to reports of a man in his 20s being threatened with a gun in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.
During their investigation, officers discovered another man in his 20s had allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
A Tottenham spokesman said the club has been providing support since the incident occurred.
“Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further,” the spokesman added. – Bernama-PA Media/dpa
