Brazilian star Endrick scores a hat-trick on loan from Real Madrid, leading Lyon to a 5-2 win over Metz and boosting their top-four push
BRAZILIAN teenager Endrick announced his arrival in Ligue 1 with a stunning hat-trick for Lyon on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, on loan from Real Madrid, fired Lyon to a 5-2 thrashing of bottom club Metz at the Stade Saint-Symphorien.
Endrick opened the scoring with a clever chip over goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer in the 11th minute.
Ruben Kluivert, son of former Netherlands striker Patrick, doubled the advantage just five minutes later with his first goal for the club.
Former Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton made it three before Koffi Kouao pulled one back for the struggling hosts.
Endrick then raced clear from the halfway line to round off a dominant first-half display with a cool finish.
Habib Diallo cut the deficit again for Metz after the break.
The Brazilian star completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot with three minutes remaining.
The victory helped fourth-placed Lyon extend their advantage over Lille to four points.
Lille were thumped 4-1 at home by Gary O’Neil’s Strasbourg in Sunday’s other match.
Argentinian striker Joaquin Panichelli opened the scoring for the visitors with his 11th league goal of the season.
Julio Enciso doubled the lead less than two minutes later with his first Ligue 1 goal since signing from Brighton.
Martial Godo scored a second-half double to seal a brilliant away victory for Strasbourg.
The win lifts Strasbourg to sixth place, just two points behind a Lille side that has lost three consecutive league games.
Earlier, Nice ended their eight-match winless run by defeating fellow strugglers Nantes 4-1.
The result moves Nice seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Paris FC were held to a goalless draw by Angers but remain six points ahead of Nantes, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.
