FIFA overturns three Malaysia match results to 3-0 defeats and fines FAM CHF10,000 for fielding ineligible players in Tier 1 internationals.
THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has been sanctioned by FIFA for fielding ineligible players.
The world governing body’s Disciplinary Committee has overturned the results of three Tier 1 international matches to 3-0 defeats for Malaysia.
The affected matches are a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde on May 29, a 2-1 win over Singapore on September 4, and a 1-0 victory against Palestine on September 8.
FIFA also imposed a fine of CHF10,000 (approximately RM51,414) on FAM.
In a statement, FAM said the committee found it had breached Article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
“The meeting, chaired by FIFA Disciplinary Committee deputy chairman Jorge Palacio, found that FAM had breached Article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (2025 Edition) by fielding ineligible players in three Tier 1 international matches,” the statement read.
FAM stated it will request the full grounds of the decision from FIFA before determining its next steps.
This latest sanction is separate from a previous case involving seven heritage players.
FAM has already lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over those earlier FIFA sanctions.
In that case, FAM was fined approximately RM1.8 million and the seven players received 12-month suspensions.
