Harimau Malaya drops to 121st ranking amid sanctions

National football team drops five places to 121st globally after FIFA annulled three match results for fielding ineligible players.

THE Harimau Malaya national football squad has fallen to 121st in the latest FIFA world rankings.

The team dropped five places from its previous position of 116th, now holding 1,145.9 ranking points.

This decline follows sanctions imposed by the International Federation of Association Football.

FIFA annulled two victories and a draw after Malaysia was found to have fielded ineligible players.

The annulled results include wins against Singapore on September 4 and Palestine on September 8.

A draw against Cape Verde on May 29 was also declared void.

Consequently, FIFA has recorded Malaysia as losing all three matches with a 3-0 scoreline.

The Football Association of Malaysia was also fined CHF 10,000, approximately RM51,414.
