Indonesia’s U-17 team beat Honduras 2-1 in a crucial FIFA U-17 World Cup group match, keeping their knockout stage qualification hopes alive.
INDONESIA revived their FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Honduras in their Group H match on Monday.
According to afc.com, the win places Indonesia third in Group H with three points, awaiting Tuesday’s other results to determine if they advance as one of the best third-placed teams.
A tightly contested first half saw both teams create chances but fail to score.
The deadlock was broken from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute after Mierza Firjatullah was fouled by Darell Oliva.
Evanda Florasta calmly converted the penalty to give Indonesia the lead.
Honduras equalised just two minutes later through their own penalty after Putu Panji handled the ball in the box.
Luiz Suazo made no mistake from the spot to level the score.
Indonesia secured the winning goal in the 72nd minute through a brilliant individual effort.
Fadly Alberto controlled Firjatullah’s cross with his chest before firing an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Noel Valladares.
