Kelantan Real Warriors rue missed chances in 1-0 home defeat

KRW FC assistant coach laments wasted opportunities after a 0-1 Super League loss to Kuching City at home, leaving the team 10th in the standings.

KOTA BHARU: Kelantan Real Warriors FC assistant head coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli expressed deep disappointment after his team’s narrow 0-1 home defeat to Kuching City FC.

The loss at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium came despite KRW dominating the match and creating several scoring opportunities.

“We dominated the game, followed the plan and attacked more, but failed to score goals despite the opportunities,” Akmal Rizal told reporters.

He attributed the result to his attacking line’s failure to convert chances and Kuching City’s disciplined defence.

The visiting side scored the only goal through Danial Amer in the 19th minute, with a shot in the penalty box beating goalkeeper Damyanov Valeriy.

Akmal Rizal admitted his strikers struggled against the physicality of Kuching City’s imported defenders.

“Our strikers find it difficult to face the opposing defence physically and that makes it difficult for them to score goals,” he said.

The defeat leaves Kelantan Real Warriors in 10th position with 11 points from 13 matches.

The assistant coach said the team is assessing the need to strengthen its attack, including possibly bringing in new imported players.

“The attack is currently in a critical condition and needs to be improved to face the rest of the second round of the league,” he added.

He stated that any decision on new signings would be subject to club management’s approval.
