Ruben Amorim says Manchester United are at the beginning of becoming a strong team after dramatic 2-2 draw with Tottenham extended unbeaten run

RUBEN AMORIM believes Manchester United are only at the start of their development after a dramatic 2-2 draw at Tottenham extended their unbeaten run to five Premier League games.

The Red Devils led for nearly an hour through Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half header and looked set to move second in the table.

Spurs turned the game around with two goals in seven minutes from Mathys Tel and Richarlison.

United were reduced to 10 men when Benjamin Sesko limped off after all five substitutions had been made.

The visitors still fought back to snatch a point through Matthijs de Ligt’s 96th-minute header.

Amorim praised his side’s resilience but felt they should have won after dominating the first half.

“During the game you feel that the three points were there,” said the Portuguese manager.

“If you look to the game and if you feel the environment, we have so much to grow as a team because today was our day to win this game.”

Amorim added: “If we have a little bit more bravery, we can kill this game.”

The draw leaves United seventh in the table and potentially outside the top half depending on weekend results.

Amorim sees progress during his longest unbeaten streak since taking charge at Old Trafford just over a year ago.

“I understand that this is just the tip of the iceberg. We are just in the beginning of becoming a very strong team, so we have a lot to do,” he said.

“We believe in our capacity to score goals until the last minute and we did that.” – AFP
