Lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart becomes a minority owner of Swansea City, joining celebrity investors Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric
AMERICAN lifestyle icon Martha Stewart has become a minority owner of Championship football club Swansea City.
The 84-year-old billionaire businesswoman attended Swansea’s recent win against Wrexham as a guest.
She now joins rapper Snoop Dogg and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric as high-profile investors in the Welsh club.
Swansea’s majority owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen confirmed the investment in a statement.
“Martha is a close friend of Snoop Dogg and she came to the Wrexham game as our guest,” they said.
“We are delighted to confirm Martha… has followed Snoop and Luka Modric in becoming a minority owner of our football club.”
Stewart built her success as a leading homemaking and lifestyle expert in the United States.
The club aims to lift its profile and generate more revenue through these celebrity partnerships.
Increased revenue would allow for greater spending on new signings under profit and sustainability rules.
Former Real Madrid star Luka Modric, now at AC Milan, invested in Swansea last April.
Rap legend Snoop Dogg joined the club’s ownership group in July.
“We are very excited to welcome Martha on board,” the owners’ statement continued.
“Experiencing Friday night’s game in-person has only increased her own enthusiasm and anticipation for being part of Swansea City.”
Swansea City currently sits 19th in the English Championship.
The team travels to face league leaders Coventry City in its next match on Friday.
