New Maradona death trial set for March after initial case dismissed

Seven medical staff face retrial for alleged negligence in Diego Maradona’s 2020 death, with potential prison terms of eight to 25 years if convicted.

A new trial over the death of football legend Diego Maradona will begin on March 17, after an initial proceeding was dismissed earlier this year, according to an Argentine court document seen Wednesday by AFP.

Seven of Maradona’s health staff will be retried for alleged negligence over the football star’s November 2020 death.

He died at age 60 of heart failure and acute pulmonary edema — a condition where fluid accumulates in the lungs — two weeks after brain surgery.

A first trial collapsed in May after one of the judges was revealed to have taken part in a documentary about the court proceedings.

The other two judges who made up the court ultimately resigned.

A new three-judge bench in San Isidro was appointed in July to conduct a fresh trial.

A preliminary hearing will take place on November 12, Wednesday’s court ruling said.

Maradona’s medical team was charged over the conditions of his home convalescence, which prosecutors described as grossly negligent.

They face prison terms of between eight and 25 years if convicted of “homicide with possible intent,” or pursuing a course of action despite knowing it could lead to his death.

Alfa Romeo Marks the Quadrifoglio Legacy with Exclusive Giulia and Stelvio Collezione Models

Alfa Romeo has introduced two highly exclusive creations, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Collezione and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Collezione, developed in tribute to one of the brand’s most enduring icons — the Quadrifoglio. The emblem, first painted onto Ugo Sivocci’s Alfa Romeo RL when he won the 1923 Targa Florio, became the mark of the brand’s racing machinery for decades. In 1963 it shifted from the circuit to the road with the Giulia Ti Super, and from then on it distinguished Alfa Romeo’s most powerful and exclusive road-going models. That pivotal year forms the inspiration for this new Collezione series, which has been limited to just 63 units worldwide. Two Giulia units have been earmarked for the UK, while the rest will be distributed across Europe, the Middle East, China and Japan.
