Nottingham Forest name Vitor Pereira as their fourth boss this season, handing him an 18-month contract to lead the fight against Premier League relegation.

LONDON: Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest have appointed Vitor Pereira (pic) as their fourth manager of a turbulent season.

The club confirmed the Portuguese coach has agreed an 18-month contract at the City Ground.

Pereira takes over following the dismissal of Sean Dyche earlier this week. Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou have also been sacked by Forest during this campaign.

His immediate task will be to haul the team away from the relegation zone, with Forest sitting just three points above the bottom three with 12 games remaining.

Dyche was axed hours after Wednesday’s 0-0 draw against bottom-of-the-table Wolves, a match in which Forest had 35 shots on goal but failed to score.

The 57-year-old Pereira had been out of work since being sacked by Wolves in November after a poor start to the season.

He had previously saved Wolves from relegation in the 2024-25 campaign after taking over from Gary O’Neil.

Pereira has a prior working relationship with Forest’s volatile owner, Evangelos Marinakis, from their time together at Greek club Olympiacos.

His first match in charge will be next week’s Europa League play-off round first leg away at Fenerbahce, one of his former clubs.

Securing Premier League survival remains the primary objective, however, following a period of intense managerial instability.

Dyche’s tenure lasted just 114 days, which itself followed Ange Postecoglou’s brief 39-day reign in October.

This chaos comes just months after Nuno Espirito Santo led Forest to an impressive seventh-place finish last season, securing European football for the first time since 1995-96.

Nuno’s departure in September after 21 months was reportedly due to disagreements with Marinakis over transfer policy.

Pereira built his reputation during a highly successful two-year spell at Porto, where he won back-to-back league titles.

His extensive managerial career also includes stints at Fenerbahce, Shanghai SIPG in China, Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, and Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Flamengo.
