Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku is back in team training after a long-term thigh injury but is unlikely to feature against Benfica in the Champions League
NAPLES: Romelu Lukaku has returned to full team training with Napoli after a lengthy injury layoff.
The Belgian striker has been sidelined since suffering a thigh injury during a pre-season friendly last summer.
He has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Italian champions this campaign.
Lukaku told reporters “see you soon” as he joined the squad session on Tuesday.
However, he is considered unlikely to be available for Napoli’s crucial Champions League match at Benfica on Wednesday.
In Serie A, Napoli are level on points with league leaders AC Milan.
Their European campaign has been more challenging, sitting just one point above the relegation zone in their group. – AFP
