Selangor FC fined RM100,000 and must play behind closed doors

Selangor FC punished with empty stadium and RM100,000 fine for fan misconduct during FA Cup quarter-final against Negeri Sembilan

SELANGOR FC have been ordered to play behind closed doors following fan misconduct during their FA Cup quarter-final against Negeri Sembilan FC.

The Football Association of Malaysia disciplinary committee imposed the punishment for incidents during the second leg match at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium on October 29.

Committee chairman Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu confirmed the “Red Giants” will play their upcoming semi-final second leg against Sabah FC in an empty stadium on November 30.

Selangor must also play their first home match of next season’s FA Cup competition without spectators.

The five-time champions received an additional RM100,000 fine for repeated offences under Article 42 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.

Baljit stated that Selangor FC has been given a stern warning with heavier punishment threatened for any repeat offences.

The club was found guilty on five separate charges relating to the quarter-final incident.

Charge one involved supporters setting off firecrackers directed toward Negeri Sembilan fans.

Charge two cited home supporters damaging benches and throwing water bottles that injured two opposing supporters.

A Selangor FC VVIP threw a water-filled plastic container toward the family of Negeri Sembilan players according to charge three.

Charge four documented provocations by Selangor supporters that caused commotion between fan groups.

The final charge found Selangor failed to meet safety obligations including implementing International Football Association Board regulations.

The disciplinary committee’s decision remains open to appeal. – Bernama
