Seven set free as FIFA lifts suspensions

FIFA orders immediate stay of suspensions for seven Malaysian heritage players at domestic and continental levels following a Court of Arbitration for Sport decision.

THE International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has directed its member associations and confederations to immediately stay the suspensions of seven Malaysian heritage players.

The Football Association of Malaysia announced the development today following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

FIFA’s notification means sanctions against the players are suspended at both domestic and continental levels with immediate effect.

The affected players are Facundo Garcés, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, João Figueiredo, Gabriel Palmero, Jon Irazabal, and Héctor Hevel.

CAS had earlier cleared the seven heritage players to return to action after accepting their application for a Stay of Execution.

The FAM shared the official feedback from FIFA on its Facebook page today.
