Youth Ministry reaffirms commitment to coordinate with Home Ministry on document falsification case involving seven national football heritage players
KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to coordinate closely with the Home Ministry regarding document falsification involving seven national football heritage players.
Minister Hannah Yeoh stated the ministry is monitoring the case closely after studying the FIFA Appeal Committee’s full written reasoning.
She noted that the Home Ministry plays a key role as criminal matters fall under its authority.
“I have contacted the Minister of Home Affairs but have not received a response yet,” Yeoh told reporters after attending a sponsorship announcement for national athletes.
She expressed confidence that the Home Ministry would reply in due course after studying FIFA’s motivated decision.
The FIFA Appeal Committee’s 63-page decision instructed its secretariat to notify authorities in Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia to determine if criminal proceedings should be initiated.
The committee stated that falsification constitutes a criminal offence in these countries and authorities should investigate and take legal action.
Yeoh confirmed the Youth Ministry will also address questions involving the Football Association of Malaysia and FIFA in Parliament tomorrow.
“KBS will give its statement in Parliament during the 2026 ministry budget debate,” she added.
All related matters will be addressed during the parliamentary session. – Bernama
