Youth and Sports Ministry still assessing flood damage to facilities in Terengganu, Perlis and Perak, prioritising community welfare over asset losses.
THE Ministry of Youth and Sports is awaiting a comprehensive report on flood damage to sports facilities under its supervision following Tropical Storm Senyar.
Deputy Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim said preliminary reports indicate flooding at facilities in Terengganu, Perlis and parts of Perak.
“The Terengganu Youth and Sports Complex and Perlis Youth and Sports Department office were reported flooded,” he told reporters after officiating the Kembara Jumpa Orang Muda 2.0 Southern Zone programme in Bukit Katil.

He said both locations are being monitored with detailed damage assessments pending.
Adam Adli emphasised that community welfare currently takes priority over facility repairs.
“Our sports complex is flooded, but that can be repaired later,” he stated.
“What matters most is the surrounding community that has been affected and requires immediate assistance.”
The ministry has deployed 40 MADANI-SATRIA Rakan Muda Ihsan Squad volunteers to Kuala Kangsar for post-flood operations.
These volunteers are conducting cleaning work at flood victims’ homes and assisting at relief centres.
Adam Adli noted that based on previous experience, the squad has improved its preparedness with enhanced aid kits and more efficient mobilisation.
Regarding the Kembara Jom programme, he said it has attracted 5,464 participants across six zones since its July launch.
The initiative aims to better understand and support youth needs while nurturing future leaders.
“We want to give young people a platform to express themselves,” he added.
The ministry plans to expand the programme next year with Jamboree-style events in two locations. – Bernama
