Malaysian lawn bowls team clinches double victory in China tournaments

Malaysia’s lawn bowls team won gold and silver at the China Open and triumphed at the Tiger World Bowls Invitation in Hangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR: The national lawn bowls team concluded 2025 with a double victory in China.

The team triumphed at both the China Open Lawn Bowls Championships and the Tiger World Bowls Invitation in Hangzhou.

Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation president Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz (pic) said the wins underscore the team’s strength as a leading Asian side.

He said competing in consecutive tournaments highlighted the athletes’ mental resilience and consistency.

“PLBM is extremely proud and confident that this level of performance can be sustained at upcoming international tournaments,” he said.

At the China Open, Malaysia won the men’s fours gold medal by defeating hosts Zhu Hai.

The national women’s team advanced to the women’s fours final, securing a silver medal after losing to Zhong Ti Time.

Two days earlier, the women’s team were crowned champions in the women’s fours at the Tiger World Bowls Invitation.

The men’s team finished as runners-up in the men’s fours event at the same tournament.

Both major tournaments were staged consecutively in China for the first time.

The back-to-back schedule provided a stern test of the athletes’ fitness and focus.
