Malaysia’s SEA Games team, having surpassed its 200-medal goal, pledges to keep pushing for more success before the closing ceremony.
BANGKOK: The Malaysian contingent has vowed to maintain its momentum at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 after already surpassing its target of 200 total medals.
Chef de Mission Nurul Huda Abdullah stressed the campaign is far from over despite the Games concluding tomorrow.
“We are not done yet,” she told reporters.
“We still will be fighting and giving it our best, and we know that we can achieve more medals, so let’s see what we can actually achieve.”
The former national swimmer credited the achievement to a collective effort from athletes, team managers, national sports associations, and key sporting bodies.
She also expressed appreciation to former Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for her consistent support and belief in the national sporting fraternity.
Nurul Huda said the encouragement shown by Yeoh played a significant role in uplifting Malaysian sports.
Olympic Council of Malaysia president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria hoped athletes would stay focused to bring home as many medals as possible.
As of last night, Malaysia had collected 204 medals comprising 46 golds, 49 silvers and 109 bronzes.
Host nation Thailand remained top of the standings with 197 golds, 130 silvers and 93 bronzes.
