Malaysia’s MLBB teams urged to focus on next Asian Games after SEA success

MESF president calls on national Mobile Legends teams to maintain momentum and prepare for the 2026 Asian Games following their SEA Games medal haul.

SEPANG: Malaysia Esports Federation president Muhammad Naim Al-Amin has urged the national Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team to stay focused on next year’s Asian Games.

He called on the squad to maintain their winning momentum following their success at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.

“This momentum needs to be sustained, and the team should not be distracted,” Naim told reporters at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2.

He emphasised increasing player maturity and chemistry to ensure consistency for the Asian Games in Aichi, Nagoya.

The national MLBB squad returned from the SEA Games with one gold and one silver medal.

The women’s team clinched gold with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Philippines.

The men’s team secured silver after a 4-0 loss to the Philippines in the final.

Women’s team captain Sharifah Alia Husna Syed Fakrurrozi said the win provides a major confidence boost.

She believes the team can reach a higher level with more preparation time.

Sharifah also encouraged more women players to showcase their talents in tournaments.

“Malaysia needs more women players. If you feel you are talented, then sign up for the upcoming tournaments,” she said.

Men’s team captain Idreen Abdul Jamal expressed satisfaction with the team’s effort.

He admitted certain aspects of their game need improvement, particularly decision-making speed.

Idreen said competing against stronger teams provided valuable lessons in player rotation.

The experience also taught them about making swift decisions under pressure. – Bernama
