NSC denies DG’s link to badminton academy scam

The National Sports Council refutes claims its director-general is involved in a fraudulent badminton academy programme demanding large payments.

THE National Sports Council has firmly denied any involvement of its director-general, Jefri Ngadirin, in a badminton academy programme allegedly soliciting large payments.

It stated that Jefri’s name and photograph were misused by irresponsible parties linking him to the activity.

The NSC clarified it has no connection, involvement, or relationship with the programme. It has never authorised any individual or group to use its name to collect payments for sports activities.

“The NSC views this misuse seriously, and a police report has been lodged to enable a thorough investigation,” the council said in a statement.

It warned it would not hesitate to take strict legal action against any party involved in such fraudulent activities to protect its interests and reputation.

The public was advised to verify information related to the agency through official channels only. It urged people not to make payments to any party claiming to represent the NSC without proper verification.

Victims of such scams were reminded to lodge police reports immediately and contact their financial institutions. The NSC pledged to continue proactive measures to curb these activities and protect the public.
