Perlis athletes could receive RM10,000 each for individual golds if the state achieves its 20-gold medal target at the 2026 Malaysia Games.
PERLIS has announced a RM10,000 incentive for individual gold medallists at the 2026 Malaysia Games, contingent on the state achieving its overall target of 20 golds.
Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the reward is designed to motivate athletes and officials towards the ambitious goal.
He stated that all sports programmes for 2026 will be aligned with the 20-gold target for the 22nd Selangor SUKMA.
“This target must be achieved to ensure the Perlis State Sports Development Plan 2022-2026, which aims to secure 20 gold medals from eight sports, is realised,” he said.
Mohd Shukri acknowledged the target is challenging but expressed confidence it can be met through an integrated development programme called Project 8:20.
He made the announcement while tabling the state’s Budget 2026 at the Perlis State Legislative Assembly sitting.
In a separate sports development initiative, Mohd Shukri revealed Perlis will help co-sponsor the 10th Woodball World Cup in 2026.
The championship, involving 20 countries, is scheduled for July 25-31, 2026.
He said hosting the event will strengthen Perlis’s image as an international sports destination and Malaysia’s woodball development centre.
