Johor state government refutes social media claims that Sultan Ibrahim Stadium is not owned by JDT, clarifying its management structure under TMJ’s patronage.
THE Johor state government has firmly denied allegations that the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI) does not belong to the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club.
Johor Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah labelled the claims, posted on social media platform X, as untrue and misleading.
He stated that SSI is the property of the club, which operates under the patronage and consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), as the club owner.
“I strongly deny these allegations,” Mohd Hairi said in a statement. “The statement made by the individual is untrue, baseless, and speculative, and should be stopped to avoid misleading the people of Johor.”
He added that the stadium’s construction was part of Tunku Mahkota Ismail’s strategic vision to develop a world-class sports ecosystem in Johor.
The JDT club functions as a professional entity managing the team’s technical aspects, player performance, and overall development.
To ensure structured governance, Tunku Ismail has entrusted the Johor State Stadium Corporation (PSNJ) with regulating the stadium’s daily operations.
PSNJ also handles periodic maintenance, security, facilities, logistics, and event organisation.
Mohd Hairi said this management model demonstrates a clear separation of roles, with JDT focusing on team performance and PSNJ responsible for stadium management.
“This approach is in line with the best practices of elite global clubs and is a key factor in JDT’s continuous success,” he said.
He urged writers and social media influencers to verify facts before making statements that could affect the reputation of the state’s sports institutions.
The state government remains committed to ensuring SSI is managed professionally, maintaining it as a source of pride and a symbol of Johor’s sporting excellence.
