Warzone World Championship (WWC) organiser has applied for approval, with the Sports Commissioner reviewing safety and sanction requirements.
PUTRAJAYA: The organiser of combat sports programme Warzone World Championship (WWC) has submitted an application to the Sports Commissioner to host the international tournament.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh confirmed the application was submitted yesterday and will be processed within the 30-day limit.
“We also look at whether they meet the safety requirements,” she told reporters at Menara Kementerian Belia dan Sukan.
Yeoh emphasised that events cannot involve children under 15 following today’s announcement.

The minister noted the tournament involves foreign celebrities, requiring cross-checks with the Home Ministry and Immigration Department.
Sports Commissioner Arrifin Mohd Ghani said his office will examine all documents and verify sanction status before considering the application.
Malaysian Muaythai Association president Datuk Muhammad Shahnaz Azmi revealed they suspended WWC’s sanction after the viral child incident.
“Their explanation to us is very simple, they said — ‘We want to sell tickets’,” he stated.
Azmi emphasised that child exploitation is unacceptable in martial arts, which prioritises respect over sensationalism.
A viral video showed two children in a staged scuffle during WWC’s press conference, drawing widespread criticism.
Many parties urged authorities to investigate and take firm action against the tournament organiser.
The Youth and Sports Ministry previously confirmed WWC lacked ministry approval.
Regarding RM15 million funding for FAM, Yeoh said expenditure will be jointly monitored by Finance Ministry and KBS.
“RM15 million is specifically for the Asian Cup qualifying process,” she said, referring to Budget 2025 allocation. – Bernama
