Jung Yu Mi plays a nurse who creatively exorcises ghosts in The School Nurse Files

Fight monsters. Save the school. Go to lunch.

Korean original series The School Nurse Files is an upbeat fantasy series about a school nurse named Ahn Eun-young who, unlike her unremarkable name, has the uncanny ability to see supernatural jellies aka ectoplasm that are invisible to others.

She discovers peculiar mysteries at her new school and tackles these problems with the help of the Classical Chinese teacher Hong In-pyo.

Ahn Eun-young (played by Jung Yu Mi) was born into the fate of waging a lifelong battle against the jellies and grunts in annoyance as she wields her rainbow sword. She fights the jellies in all shapes and colour, from a giant toad to playful octopus, using her rainbow sword and BB gun.

Her eccentric and random behaviour appears very strange to her colleague, the Chinese Classical teacher Hong In-pyo (played by Nam Joo Hyuk). She covers up by saying she’s practicing moves for her Zumba class but Hong knew better than to fall for that.

Once he discovers her secret as well as his own special power to recharge her, he becomes her hand-in-hand partner in exorcising jellies.

They come to rely on one another and their story of personal growth promises to bring quiet inspiration and gentle excitement to the screen.

From Eun-young's staunch supporter Hwa Su, who is the director of an acupuncture clinic, to the mysterious colleague Mackenzie, other interesting characters heighten the suspense of Ahn Eun-young's struggle to defeat the jellies and restore peace.

The School Nurse Files premieres on Netflix on 25 September 2020.
