Lotus’s Melaka Cheng reopens with expanded F&B, local brands

Expanded Lotus’s Melaka Cheng adds 4,311 sqm, 12 new tenants including Harum Kopi’s first mall outlet

LOTUS’s STORES (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. has officially relaunched its Melaka Cheng location following a significant expansion aimed at enhancing convenience for neighbourhood residents through increased dining options, support for local enterprises, and family-oriented facilities.

The revitalised mall, which serves the expanding northern Melaka Tengah district, has long functioned as a familiar community gathering point. The recent improvements build upon this foundation by upgrading comfort levels, accessibility, and tenant diversity.

Substantial Space Addition

The neighbourhood-focused enhancement added 4,311 square metres of new retail space, increasing the mall’s total footprint to 7,616 square metres. The upgrade introduced 11 new retail lots accommodating 12 fresh tenants, raising the total number of retail spaces to 57.

Approximately 30 percent of the mall’s retail lots are now allocated to food and beverage operations, strengthening its position as a destination for everyday dining and family activities.

“This expansion centres on the neighbourhood’s needs. We paid attention to what local families requested—greater food variety, recognisable brands, and a pleasant environment for spending time together. Our goal is ensuring Lotus’s Melaka Cheng remains a place they’re happy to return to as part of their daily routines,” explained Yvonne Yong, Chief Financial and Property Development Officer of Lotus’s Malaysia.

Carefully Selected Tenant Mix

The refreshed facility features a deliberately assembled selection of food, lifestyle, and electronics retailers that balance everyday practicality with local character.

New food and beverage establishments include Harum Kopi, My Mom’s Chicken Rice, Big Apple Donuts, Mee Hiris Express, Bonda Laksa, and Mixue. Lifestyle and electronics additions feature Sin Siang Stationery, Umairose Boutique, Xiaomi, Oppo, LG Electronics, and G Accessories.

Local Brands Take Centre Stage

A standout feature of the expansion is Harum Kopi’s debut in a retail mall environment at Lotus’s Melaka Cheng. The beloved local coffee brand brings its signature aromatic brews and Asian comfort cuisine to a neighbourhood shopping setting, demonstrating Lotus’s dedication to helping homegrown businesses reach the communities they serve.

Another significant addition is My Mom’s Chicken Rice, a popular halal establishment founded by Malaysian media personality Linda Onn, offering families a familiar dining favourite.

Sin Siang Stationery, exclusive to Melaka, rounds out the local highlights by catering to everyday stationery and gift-wrapping requirements, further cementing the mall’s role in supporting neighbourhood life.

“These additions provide more than just variety. They facilitate local brands’ expansion whilst giving shoppers beloved favourites and a welcoming environment that feels integrated with the community,” Yong added.

Launch Celebrations

To commemorate the relaunch, media representatives took part in an exclusive Media Experiential Hunt, providing hands-on exploration of the refreshed community hub and its new offerings.

Celebrating the expansion, Lotus’s Melaka Cheng is hosting activities through 21 December 2025, including:
