Legendary British rock band, Coldplay, announced in May that they would be playing their first concert in Indonesia – on Nov 15 at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium – as part of the Asia leg of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour.
However, according to Indonesian netizens, the concert was laden with issues including ticket scalpers and the concert venue getting trespassed.
X account TOKO PARMO shared that an Indonesian ticket scalper by the name of Ghisca Debora Aritonang had allegedly scammed thousands of hopeful concert goers.
According to the X account, how her modus operandi worked is that she rotated and sold 100 complimentary Coldplay tickets as though she had 8,000 concert tickets, earning a whopping RM4,528,164 (15,000,000,000 Indonesian Rupiah).
The post further added, “One source has said that the money has been transferred to a bank in the Netherlands so that it cannot be confiscated and cannot be returned”.
Based on a report by Tribun Jateng, she, along with several other ticket scammers, have been arrested after 73 people reported her to the police for faking thousands of tickets.
