NO matter how meticulous one’s plans are for a trip, anything can happen that could change the trajectory of said plans in a good or bad way.
A couple had the recent misfortune of being barred from travelling to their honeymoon destination and losing a whopping RM16,000 due to their wet passports.
In a TikTok video by Fikry Azman, he said that he and his wife’s passports were rejected during registration on Dec 17; hence their long-awaited trip to Turkey had gone up in shambles.
“The passport getting wet is my fault for not being alert about it.
“I travel back and forth to Singapore for work. On Saturday, it was raining heavily when I reached the Singapore Customs,” Fikry explained in the comments section.
Realising that nothing could be done to fix the situation, both Fikry and hs wife accepted that it was not their time and took this as a valuable lesson.
“God has His own plans for us and we accept them with open arms. Forgive me, my love, we were not able to go there,” he added.
Netizens have suggested a few ways to reduce his losses such as refunding his flight tickets or rescheduling his flight however Fikry had booked his trip to Turkey under a tour group hence the RM16,000 spent on the trip had gone up in flames.
Fikry’s video was also considered a cautionary tale by netizens who have learnt that keeping one’s passport in good condition is vital to ensure travel plans go smoothly.
