A MALAYSIAN student was recently beaten to death following a violent altercation outside a karaoke centre in Taiwan.
According to a report by China Times News Network, the Malaysian student, Chen, together with his 24-year-old friend, Yan, had bumped into three other Taiwanese men on their way out of a karaoke centre (KTV) on Nov 15 at 4am.
What was supposed to be an enjoyable night after a hard day’s work for 23-year-old Chen and his friend, instead ended in his tragic passing following an encounter with the three men that escalated into a heated argument.
One of the Taiwanese men, Chen, 22, had reportedly attacked the Malaysian student and Yan with a “folding knife”, causing Malaysian Chen to sustain a piercing wound to his inner thigh and Yan sustaining a cut on his lower right leg.
After committing the assault, 22-year-old Chen, Lin and 18-year-old Zhang fled the scene in a taxi.
Fortunately, the police were notified immediately of the incident and managed to nab the trio within one and a half hours after the incident took place.
However, things took a devastating turn for 23-year-old Chen as he was pronounced dead at 4.30am on Nov 18 after succumbing to his injuries, despite the emergency medical treatment that initially stabilised him.
It is understood that the Malaysian student was a third year student at Taiwan Ocean University pursuing Marine Environmental Information and worked part-time at a hotpot restaurant to financially support himself living in Taiwan.
