SUNWAY Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) is providing patients from government hospitals the opportunity to receive treatments from the hospital at a discounted rate in an aim to make quality healthcare more accessible.
Patients who have a referral letter from government hospitals can opt to start or continue their treatment at SMCV and enjoy 40% off their hospital bill from now until the end of the year.
In the past year, government hospitals have been inundated with treating both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients in a bid to flatten the curve. This has led to a delay in non-Covid-19 patients with health problems from receiving treatment when they need it most, which may further exacerbate their conditions.
Recognising this, SMCV has decided to embark on this programme to allow patients to seek out the necessary treatments in a timelier manner.
Derrick Chan, SMCV Chief Executive Officer says, “We believe that every individual should have access to affordable healthcare, so they are able to live their lives to the fullest. This initiative will provide us with the opportunity to make private healthcare more accessible and reduce the patients’ waiting time in receiving critical care for their conditions.”
Dr Wee Tong Ming, SMCV’s Medical Director and Emergency Physician also emphasises the importance of seeking early medical assistance when patients are experiencing symptoms to avoid any further complications.
“We cannot stress enough how important it is for patients to seek the medical help they need, and to also carry on with their regular check-ups to manage their health and respective conditions. We would like to encourage those in need of medical aid to not delay in reaching out to us as we want to make sure that every patient is able to get the treatment they deserve, without having to put a strain on their financial conditions. These patients will have full access to our hospital services and multidisciplinary teams according to their needs, from cardiology, neurology to paediatric services,” Dr Wee explains.
Patients who choose to undertake this aid only need to present a referral letter from the government hospital to SMCV, who will then assess and evaluate the treatment required accordingly. Once approved, the patient can proceed to continue necessary treatment and receive the best care from SMCV consultants and team.
SMCV is a firm advocate of providing accessible healthcare, even more so during these times when cost and safety are the concern of many. While there may be barriers for certain individuals to access critical healthcare services, SMCV will continue to be a dedicated healthcare partner in the community and work towards achieving a full, healthy and enriched life together.
