Solid Foundation

Deciding what to study after SPM may not come easy for many school leavers. While some may think of taking a pre-university programme with a broader scope of study to have more flexibility in choosing their field of study later on, others may have their sights on a desired discipline for their tertiary education of which a focused pre-university programme will present a better option.

With that, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC), having close to 50 years of academic excellence in providing pre-university education, would make a great choice for an academic education.

TAR UC has prepared many undergraduate students for higher education via the TAR UC Foundation programme. Focused on providing learners with solid grounding and conducted by the Centre for Pre-University Studies (CPUS) - the Foundation programme is structure in a way for students to assimilate and gain better understanding of the required knowledge so that they’re well prepared for further studies at undergraduate level.

The Foundation in Arts and Science prepares students for a wider range of undergraduate programmes whilst the Foundation in Accounting and Foundation in Engineering provides secondary school leavers with foundation to progress into undergraduate studies in corresponding disciplines.

The CPUS now offers the Foundation in Business which starts in Jan 2019, offering a course that focuses more on business-related subjects.

Twin sisters Chan Lai Jin and Chan Lai Pei are students of TAR UC’s Foundation in Accounting programme. They chose the programme as it came as a fast-track pathway to TAR UC’s accounting degree programme as it is structured to complement the undergraduate accountancy programmes.

Another reason is because of TAR UC’s stellar reputation in producing high achievers in external exams like the ACCA. Moreover, the accountancy programmes are granted maximum exemptions from a large number of global professional bodies, the twins share.
