International Justice Mission Malaysia clarifies no link to ‘International Justice Malaysia’ scam
PETALING JAYA: International Justice Mission (IJM) Malaysia has issued a public statement denying any association with a fraudulent entity using the similar name “International Justice Malaysia” that has been linked to an alleged scam scheme.
The legitimate non-profit organisation, which focuses on combating human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation as part of the global International Justice Mission network, emphasised it does not offer money recovery services or request personal details, payments, or bank information via social media platforms.
In a press release, yesterday, IJM Malaysia revealed it first learned of a fake Facebook page mimicking its organisation on November 19, 2025. The organisation immediately reported the fraudulent page to Meta and issued public alerts warning people against interaction. The imposter page has since been removed.
IJM Malaysia also filed a police report, yesterday to officially document the impersonation incident and support ongoing investigations. Following police guidance, the organisation will also submit a complaint to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for additional action.

The organisation praised law enforcement for publicising the case to increase awareness and for cautioning the public about investment schemes or fund recovery offers promoted through social media, particularly those requiring upfront payments to unknown parties.
IJM Malaysia noted these concerns align with its core mission of protecting vulnerable populations from exploitation and abuse.
The organisation also highlighted its role as a campaign partner with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in a public education initiative aimed at preventing trafficking for forced criminal activity, including coerced participation in scam operations. The UNODC-led campaign seeks to inform job seekers about deceptive hiring practices and exploitation connected to fraudulent operations, while promoting increased accountability from digital platforms and employment websites
