400 villages to receive RM500,000 each under MADANI Adopted Village initiative

400 villages nationwide will be selected for the MADANI Adopted Village programme this year, each receiving RM500,000 for community and infrastructure projects.

MELAKA: A total of 400 villages nationwide will be selected under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative this year, with an allocation of RM500,000 provided for each.

Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the programme is being continued due to its positive impacts on social, economic and welfare development.

He stated the initiative aims to address community issues and narrow the development gap between urban and rural areas.

“We do not need mega or luxury projects,” he told Bernama at the programme launch in Kampung Sungai Putat.

“Instead, the focus should be on solving problems or challenges faced by the community, such as flooding issues.”

He added the initiative can involve developing or upgrading local infrastructure like futsal or sepak takraw courts.

Muhammad Kamil cited the Kampung Sungai Putat project, which involves 11 physical and community programmes with a total allocation of RM1 million.

Physical projects there include constructing an open hall, new mosque toilets, and a programme landmark.

Other works are drainage and sewerage system upgrades, hall and arch renovations, solar light installations, and road paving.

Community programmes encompass youth and women development activities, welfare efforts, and village beautification gotong-royong.

“Our aspiration is to see the people smile as their needs are met,” Muhammad Kamil said.

He added the goal is to transform involved villages into modern settlements with complete facilities.

The launch was also attended by Hang Tuah Jaya MP Adam Adli Abd Halim and Ayer Keroh assemblyman Kerk Chee Yee. – Bernama
