About 200 JKDNKA personnel to assist with Negeri Sembilan state election security

Bukit Aman’s JKDNKA will deploy about 200 personnel to support security operations and ensure a safe, smooth Negeri Sembilan state election.

KUALA LUMPUR: About 200 personnel from Bukit Aman’s Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) will be deployed to support security operations during the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election.

JKDNKA director Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the department would provide manpower and logistical support alongside other police departments.

“For the Negeri Sembilan state election, we expect to deploy about 200 officers and personnel.

“The number is lower than for the Johor state election as Johor has more state constituencies, while Negeri Sembilan is smaller,” he told a press conference after the closing ceremony of the JKDNKA obstacle-course test at the Central Brigade General Operations Force shooting range today.

Mohd Yusri said JKDNKA deployed about 850 personnel during the recent Johor state election.

He said preparations for the Negeri Sembilan polls would include in-service training and close coordination with the Election Commission to ensure personnel clearly understood their responsibilities.

“I have instructed my officers to provide training and exposure, while working closely with various parties, particularly the Election Commission, to equip our personnel with the knowledge needed to carry out their duties on the ground,” he said.

He added that the department’s priority was to ensure the election was conducted smoothly and that voters could cast their ballots in a safe and secure environment.

“We want the public to be able to go out without fear, worry or doubt about their safety.

“They should be able to vote freely and safely while fulfilling their responsibilities as the people of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
