A former NGO chairman pleads not guilty to seven counts of misappropriating RM576,995.40 in humanitarian aid funds for missions in Myanmar, Yemen, Syria and Palestine.
MELAKA: The former chairman of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Serantau Muslim was charged again today with seven counts of dishonest misappropriation of the organisation’s funds.
Mohd Hakim Mohd Nor, 39, pleaded not guilty to all charges before Sessions Court Judge Elesabet Paya Wan.
He is accused of misappropriating RM576,995.40 raised for humanitarian aid missions in collaboration with NGOs in Myanmar, Yemen, Syria and Palestine.

The offences were allegedly committed at a bank branch in Merlimau, Jasin, between June 2019 and May 2021.
The charges are framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum six-month jail term and a maximum of five years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutors from the MACC proposed bail of RM200,000, citing the seriousness of the offence.
Defence lawyer Azizzul Shariman Mat Yusoff requested lower bail, noting his client was charged with a similar offence in Kuala Lumpur yesterday and granted RM10,000 bail.
The court set bail at RM35,000 with one surety and fixed March 13 for mention.
Yesterday, Mohd Hakim was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with misappropriating humanitarian aid donations totalling RM207,000 seven years ago. – Bernama
