Negeri Sembilan state government gets RM72.5 million first payment for Camp Syed Sirajuddin land, part of a RM1.26 billion federal compensation package.
SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan state government has received its first land premium compensation payment of RM72.49 million from the federal government.
The payment, for Camp Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas, Tampin, was made on December 31 after a delay exceeding 10 years.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun confirmed the receipt, stating it is part of a total RM1.26 billion compensation package. The full amount covers 3,800 hectares of land used by the Defence Ministry for training.
“I believe this is the largest area of land in the country owned by the Defence Ministry for training,” he said. He expressed confidence that the premium would enhance land administration efficiency in the state.
Aminuddin thanked the federal government for finally approving the long-overdue payment. He made the announcement after officiating the 2026 Negeri Sembilan State Government Administration Assembly.
The remaining nine compensation payments will be made in stages. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously stated the government’s agreement to settle the outstanding dues.
In a separate move, Aminuddin also announced RM300 in special aid for nearly 50,000 federal civil servants in the state. This aid is scheduled for disbursement before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
