A Threads post about a passenger shaking their legs nonstop for two hours sparks viral reactions and shared travel frustrations.
A Malaysian traveller’s complaint about a leg-shaking passenger on a flight has gone viral on Threads, with many users sharing similar frustrations — and a few urging empathy.
The 31-seconds clip was shared by _ratukamarulzaman, who described enduring two hours of nonstop seat movement caused by the passenger in front.
“Those of you who like to shake your legs like this, please leave that habit at home,” the user wrote.
“For the entire two-hour flight, they kept shaking — left leg, right leg, then both. The seat was moving the whole time. The cabin already smelled strange that day, and I couldn’t even fall asleep comfortably.”
The post resonated with many.
User hrdxy_ recalled facing a similar situation on a flight and reacting sarcastically, while iamzaqwanyusuf said leg-shaking is especially irritating in cinemas because “the seat keeps moving and you can’t enjoy the movie in peace.”
Others shared encounters outside flights. .b43m0n. described dealing with aggressive leg shaking at a shared bench in a food court, while enolnuldy said some Grab passengers shake their legs so much that “the whole car feels like it’s moving.”
Some commenters suggested handling the situation calmly.
nellynormanhamid shared that politely asking the person to stop worked, adding that leg shaking is sometimes a habit people are unaware of while maminlatif echoed this, recalling how a colleague only realised the habit after being gently stopped.
However, several users highlighted possible medical reasons. jrknz pointed out restless leg syndrome, saying it is something sufferers “can’t control,” while azh8ri suggested Parkinson’s disease as another possibility.
More extreme experiences were also shared. hanisahazmn said the shaking affected her physically due to close seating, while neenaazizi recounted a distressing flight involving seat-kicking and a strong smell, noting she was pregnant at the time.
Despite differing views, many agreed that in tight, shared spaces, personal habits can quickly affect others.
As _ratukamarulzaman replied to commenters, the issue wasn’t just irritation — it was a lack of consideration in an already uncomfortable environment.
