FAM directs two Super League referees to a two-week recovery phase after inaccurate decisions in the Negeri Sembilan vs JDT match.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has ordered two referees to undergo a performance recovery and refinement phase.
This follows identified performance issues during the Super League match between Negeri Sembilan FC and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on Jan 9.
FAM Secretary-General Datuk Noor Azman Rahman (pic) said the Performance Evaluation Committee reviewed the Referee Assessor’s Report and conducted a comprehensive evaluation.
“The evaluation found that several inaccurate decisions were made by the match referee, S. Logeswaran, and the VAR official, Muhd Usaid Jamal, specifically regarding the enforcement of Law 12 – ‘Fouls and Misconduct,'” he stated.
Consequently, FAM has decided to refer both referees to a two-week recovery and refinement phase to improve their performance.
In the meantime, the FAM Referee Unit and the Performance Evaluation Committee have sent official letters to all match officials involved.
They are to attend a ‘Post-match Debriefing’ session at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya, this Thursday.
“The main objective of this session is to evaluate and guide the match officials so they can rectify every weakness,” Noor Azman added.
He emphasised that FAM never compromises on matters related to officiating quality.
The association will summon any match official demonstrating weak performance for guidance and recovery.
