Government champions tahfiz education as strategic national asset

Deputy PM says empowering tahfiz education is key to nurturing well-rounded huffaz, integrating spiritual and economic strength for national development.

KUALA LUMPUR: Empowering tahfiz education is central to the government’s commitment to developing a generation of holistic professional huffaz.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this initiative aims to equip students with spiritual, intellectual and practical skills.

He emphasised that empowering the Malay community must integrate economic progress with spiritual development.

“Empowering the Malays requires building not just economic strength but also spiritual strength,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid stated this makes tahfiz education a strategic national asset rather than a marginal concern.

He was speaking at the Malay Education Empowerment Convention at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

The government is fostering this holistic generation through the National Tahfiz Policy 2.0.

Other key initiatives include the Pre-Tahfiz and Ulul Albab programmes at all MARA Junior Science Colleges.

The government has also recognised the Malaysian Tahfiz Certificate as equivalent to the Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 3.

Also present at the event were UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and UMNO Supreme Working Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
