Negeri Sembilan targets RM8 billion in investment for 2026

Negeri Sembilan expects RM8 billion in investment inflows this year, driven by manufacturing, tourism and the Seremban smart city project.

KUALA PILAH: Negeri Sembilan is projected to attract investment inflows totalling RM8 billion this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said this reflects continuous growth and strong investor confidence in the state’s economic prospects.

He said the state is focusing on enhancing its economic competitiveness in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan.

“The main goal is to increase the state’s Gross Domestic Product in a sustainable and inclusive manner,” Aminuddin said at the 78th birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

He stated the initiative aims to establish industrial clusters in the manufacturing sector through interstate collaboration.

This effort is aligned with the 13MP, with Sandvik Equipment’s investment in Bandar Sendayan listed among Malaysia’s largest.

Focus is also on developing a Special Tourism Investment Zone as a catalyst for new tourism products.

The STIZ will promote arts, culture, heritage and ecotourism for the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026.

Aminuddin also announced Seremban has entered the second phase of its smart city development.

This phase emphasises smart technology in traffic management, urban safety and municipal services.

It also involves more sustainable land-use planning for the future.

“In the long term, the development of Seremban as a smart city will have a significant impact on the state,” he said.

He explained it will attract high-value investments and create skilled employment opportunities.

The smart city framework also aims to improve the overall quality of life for residents.
