Perkeso is developing a digital ecosystem for Malaysia’s 17 million workers, focusing on AI, social protection and the new Gig Workers Act.
PUTRAJAYA: The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) is intensifying efforts to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem for worker protection and welfare.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the initiative aligns with the ministry’s 2025 digitalisation targets.
The plan involves creating an integrated digital hub for Malaysia’s 17 million-strong workforce.

This platform will streamline services covering social protection, skills training, contributions and employee-related matters.
“We have significant responsibilities because we oversee the entire workforce,” Ramanan told reporters after a ministry event.
“This year, our focus is on strengthening digitalisation.”
He said the goal is to implement it effectively to provide a robust overall ecosystem for workers.
Another key priority is the phased implementation of the Gig Workers Act 2025 this year.
The act, gazetted on 31 December 2025, is expected to protect 1.2 million gig workers nationwide.
“The approach we are taking is to understand the reality on the ground,” Ramanan said regarding the act’s rollout.
He added the ministry is drafting the 2026-2030 National Human Resources Policy as a main coordination framework.
Comprehensive reforms of 26 laws have also been carried out to align with International Labour Organisation standards.
“KESUMA laws must guarantee safety, welfare, and comprehensive support for every worker,” he stated.
The ministry also aims to elevate Technical and Vocational Education and Training as a key social mobility driver.
It targets achieving 35% skilled workforce by 2030, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
Ramanan said the ministry’s service delivery must be strengthened in line with MADANI government aspirations. – Bernama
