Curry Barker’s Obsession brings its viral buzz to local screens
INTERNET horror hit Obsession is now showing at GSC and TGV Cinemas.
Written, directed and edited by Curry Barker, the psychological horror thriller stars Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette in the lead roles.

The film follows Bear, a music store employee whose feelings for his co-worker Nikki take a horrifying turn after he buys a supernatural toy that grants him one wish.
Rather than relying only on sudden scares, Obsession builds its tension through atmosphere, dread and the increasingly dangerous line between affection and fixation. The film has drawn attention online for its unsettling premise, strong word of mouth and Navarrette’s performance as Nikki.
The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 before being picked up by Focus Features. It was released in the United States on May 15 and has since become one of the year’s most talked-about genre titles.
Malaysian audiences can catch Obsession in cinemas from June 25.
