Police hunt three suspects after Jasin house break-in

Police are hunting three men after a house break-in in Jasin, where foreign currency worth RM1,500 was stolen from a wardrobe drawer.

JASIN: Police are hunting three men believed to have broken into a house in Taman Anjung Gapam here last night.

The suspects stole foreign currency worth about RM1,500 from the property.

Jasin police chief Supt Lee Robert said the incident occurred at about 9.20pm and was captured by a CCTV system.

The 37-year-old homeowner, a beauty centre manager, discovered the crime while on her way home after receiving a CCTV alert.

“In the footage, the victim saw two men breaking into her house while another suspect remained outside,“ Lee said in a statement.

He said the victim then contacted the Bemban Police Station to seek immediate assistance.

A mobile patrol vehicle unit arrived and escorted the victim to inspect the premises.

They found a drawer in the master bedroom wardrobe had been forced open.

Checks revealed that foreign currency from China, Indonesia, Thailand and Korea kept in the drawer had been stolen.

The suspects gained entry by prying open the front iron grille and wooden door.

Eight fingerprints were lifted during a dusting process, and a K9 unit was deployed to track down the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
