Deputy PM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirms new role supervising Felda and FGV, following an official letter from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been officially tasked with overseeing the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and Felda Global Ventures (FGV).
Ahmad Zahid, who is also UMNO president and Rural and Regional Development Minister, said he received the appointment letter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Yesterday, I received a letter from the Prime Minister, officially stating my new responsibility as the minister overseeing Felda and FGV,” he said during his winding-up speech at the 2025 UMNO General Assembly.
He stated he would carry the responsibility with the aid of a deputy minister to manage Felda and settler affairs.
Ahmad Zahid described the role as a heavy task.
He later clarified in a press conference that Felda remains under the Prime Minister’s Department.
