Hartanah Kenyalang awarded RM184m job to upgrade Sarawak Stadium

PETALING JAYA: Hartanah Kenyalang Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Hartanah Construction Sdn Bhd has received a letter of award from the Public Works Department of Sarawak to repair and upgrade the Sarawak Stadium for RM184.3 million.

The contract period for the repair and upgrade of the stadium is 12 months from Jan 30.

Hartanah Kenyalang is a building and infrastructure construction company listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia.

In December 2025, Sarawak Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah mentioned that the government had agreed to host the opening ceremony of the SEA Games 2027 in Kuching, with the Sarawak Stadium as the chosen venue.

The Sarawak Stadium will undergo a major facelift from next month and it is expected to be completed by June 2027, ahead of the opening ceremony for SEA Games 2027 which is scheduled to take place in September.

The Sarawak Cabinet has approved budgets to host the SEA Games 2027 and to upgrade the Sarawak Stadium’s facilities.

Hartanah Kenyalang managing director Seah Boon Tiat said the company is glad that the Public Works Department has given it an opportunity to participate in the repair and upgrade works of the Sarawak Stadium located at Petra Jaya, Kuching.

“The upgraded stadium will be equipped with modern facilities and equipment which are essential to create conducive conditions to organise the SEA Games 2027 and to uplift Kuching as a preferred location to host more regional sports events in the future.

“The award of this contract signifies a major breakthrough for our company as it once again demonstrates our capability to construct and deliver a wide range of buildings types, spanning from landed properties such as commercial shophouses and dilapidated schools to institutional buildings, including Yayasan International School, the State Archive building and the Sarawak Stadium.

“We remain committed to continuously explore new methods to expand our scope of services in order to capture a wider range of clients in today’s competitive construction market,” he said in a statement.
