The government launches a public dashboard to monitor MA63 implementation, detailing 13 completed and 15 ongoing negotiation matters.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government has launched a public dashboard portal to track the implementation status of matters under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the portal, operated by the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division (BHESS), provides background on the agreement and current negotiation statuses.
“This portal allows the public to examine details related to MA63,” he said at a press conference after the launch.
He stated that 13 matters related to MA63 demands have been completed, while another 15 are still under negotiation.
Fadillah explained the implementation process is complex, involving the nation’s founding history and long-standing federal and state legislation.
“That is why some simple matters have already been resolved, some require more complicated consultations which sometimes require us to amend the constitution,” he said.
He emphasised the government’s intention is to ensure Malaysia remains intact with unity and strong interstate cooperation.
The dashboard development is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase accessible via the BHESS portal.
The second phase will involve continuous improvements, including direct information updates by relevant ministries.
Commenting on a statement by Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said regarding Petronas and Petros regulatory issues, Fadillah said the matter is now before the courts.
He said all parties must await the official decision of the legislature.
Azalina had stated that MA63 is the basic document outlining the terms of Malaysia’s formation, including rights for Sabah and Sarawak.
However, she noted the oil and gas industry is regulated by federal legislation, specifically the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
