Johor school fight erupts after alleged indecent behaviour against student

A fight outside a Johor school, involving two students and a man, is linked to an earlier alleged indecent behaviour case against a female student

JOHOR BAHRU: A viral fight outside a school in Larkin is believed to have been triggered by an earlier case of alleged extreme indecent behaviour against a female student.

Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief ACP Raub Selamat said the altercation occurred around 2.30 pm yesterday and involved two 17-year-old male students and a 20-year-old unemployed man.

The unemployed man is the brother of one of the students involved in the brawl.

Police received a report at 7.13 pm on the same day from one student alleging he was assaulted by the other two individuals.

That case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

“Initial investigations also found that the incident occurred following an earlier case in which a 13-year-old female student was harassed in an extremely indecent manner involving the complainant on Jan 28 at about 2 pm,” Raub said in a statement.

Police also received a separate report from the female student at 5.43 pm yesterday.

That case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a person.

A video of the fight, showing a student on a motorcycle being assaulted by two men outside the school, circulated widely on social media.

Raub advised the public not to share the viral video to avoid misunderstandings or speculation.

He urged anyone with information to contact the Johor Bahru Selatan district police headquarters at 07-2182323.
