Petaling Jaya police identify suspect in viral convenience store fight, investigating under Section 323 of the Penal Code for assault.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have identified a suspect involved in a convenience store brawl that went viral on social media.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat (pic) said a report was lodged by a store employee yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations found the suspect entered the premises intoxicated and harassed the employee.
This later escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in injuries and property damage.
“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code, and police will submit an application for an Order to Investigate (OTI) for further investigation,” Shamsudin said in a statement.
He added that the suspect and witnesses will be called to have their statements recorded.
Shamsudin also advised the public not to spread inaccurate information or make unfounded speculation on social media.

The viral video showed two men grappling in front of the payment counter of a Petaling Jaya store in the presence of several customers.
